    The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a new phone scam involving callers claiming to be from Verizon.
    Victims are receiving phone calls from “Verizon” representatives stating that a new phone has recently been purchased on their account. The victim is then pressured to provide personal information, account details, passwords, or verification codes to “stop” the purchase.
    If you receive one of these calls:

• Do NOT provide personal or banking information
• Do NOT share verification or security codes
• Hang up immediately
• Contact Verizon directly using the number listed on your bill or the official Verizon website/app

Scammers often use fear and urgency to trick people into giving away sensitive information. If something feels suspicious, trust your instincts and verify the information independently.

To All Post #40 Legionnaire, Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion members,
     We have just been notified by Legionnaire Dave Rahn that his wife Auxiliary member, Joyce Rahn will be having surgery in Rochester on June 11.
     Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers during this time, that God guide the surgeons and their team during her surgery, and for a quick recovery. Please keep her husband Dave in your thoughts while he is by her side.
     Cards may be sent to Dave and/or Joyce Rahn, 518 New St, Whalan MN 55949.

    Announcements must pertain to Legion, Auxiliary, or Sons of the American Legion member business and may be subject to approval. Every effort is made to post to the website within 24 hours. Postings to the Announcement Monitor at the Legion are posted based on the event dates.
